Mnangagwa Warns Absent Ministers of "Dire Consequences"

President Mnangagwa isn't happy with some of his ministers and senior officials. He called them out for skipping important Cabinet meetings and committees. He said they need to get their act together or face the consequences.

The President made it clear that Cabinet meetings should be their top priority. He knows most ministers put the country first, but he's worried about the ones who don't show up. It's a big problem.

President Mnangagwa won't stand for junior officials being sent to just sit in meetings either. He said that's like not doing their job at all. Only directors or higher-ups should go if the Permanent Secretaries can't make it.

He told the Chief Secretary, Dr. Martin Rushwaya, to keep a close eye on who attends the meetings. In 2025, anyone who doesn't follow the rules could be in big trouble. The President wants to make sure everyone understands that Cabinet business comes before anything else.

He also wants Deputy Ministers to be ready to represent the government well at meetings. The Ministers need to keep them in the loop and let them get involved. Starting in 2025, Deputy Ministers will have to sign performance agreements too.

President Mnangagwa has been trying to get everyone to work hard and do their best. He started using performance contracts a few years ago for Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, and the people in charge of government-owned companies. He even gives out awards to the top performers.

The President is doing all this because he wants the government to be excellent. He believes in working hard and putting the people first. That's what it'll take for Zimbabwe to reach its big goals by 2030.
