Mnangagwa warns forces on drug abuse

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced a zero-tolerance policy regarding narcotic use among military and law enforcement personnel during a graduation ceremony for correctional service recruits at Ntabazinduna Training Depot in Matabeleland North Province. The commander-in-chief emphasized that substance addiction threatens national stability and warned officers must maintain exemplary conduct while resisting behavior that undermines societal productivity.

Mnangagwa directed newly graduated correctional officers to uphold justice and human dignity while serving with integrity and fairness. He stressed their duties must reflect Ubuntu principles and Zimbabwean patriotic values.

The administration plans to establish community correctional centers offering alternatives to incarceration for certain offenders, which will reduce overcrowding while supporting rehabilitation efforts. Zimbabwe will host a regional conference on parole systems, with participants from neighboring nations attending through partnerships maintained by the correctional service staff college.
