Mnangagwa bans drugs for ZPCS at Ntabazinduna

President Mnangagwa warned that Zimbabwe's uniformed forces will not tolerate drug and substance abuse within their ranks, declaring at a joint Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service graduation ceremony at Ntabazinduna Training Depot in Matabeleland North Province that the problem threatens national stability and productivity. The Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces told newly graduated correctional officers that security services must maintain the highest standards of discipline and moral conduct while serving with integrity, fairness and humility rooted in Zimbabwean values of Ubuntu and Unhu.

The administration is establishing community correctional centers to provide non-custodial alternatives for selected offenders, which will promote rehabilitation while reducing prison congestion. Zimbabwe will host an inaugural Parole System Conference with regional partners, and the president commended ZPCS for maintaining cooperation with Southern African institutions through its staff college training programs.
