Mob Lynches 13 Year Old Phone Thief in Ashanti

Angry people killed a 13-year-old boy they caught stealing a phone and money from a house at Aboaso Zongo in the Ashanti Region. The middle school student allegedly took a phone and 800 Ghana cedis around 3 a.m. on April 15, 2025. Someone raised an alarm when they found him inside the home. A crowd gathered fast and beat the young thief severely.

The victim's brother, Faisal Osman, heard about the attack and rushed to help. He took his injured brother home to clean him up before going to the hospital. The boy died during this process. Local leaders Ibrahim Kufulu and assemblyman Nurin Mohammed later reported the death to police at Mamponteng station.

Officers went to the scene and found the body lying on its back under a white cloth. They saw many wounds and blood marks showing the severe beating. Police took the body to Methodist Hospital mortuary at Ankaase for storage and future examination. Early police work confirmed the boy had stolen from the assemblyman's mother.

The mob had tied up the student and beaten him after someone found the stolen items. This happened after people heard shouting about the theft. Police continue looking into who was part of the group that killed the child that morning.
