Modi bets on toilets and toddlers to build Viksit Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized Wednesday that three major government programs have strengthened public health while developing the nation's workforce. The Prime Minister's Office highlighted an analysis by Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Health, describing how federal policy transformed healthcare into an economic growth engine. Modi's administration views medical services as productive investments rather than expenses, according to the cardiologist's assessment. This approach enhances both governance effectiveness and national wealth creation. Dr. Shetty outlined how policy shifted from basic welfare toward building a developed India by 2047.

Ayushman Bharat emerged as the planet's largest government-funded health insurance program since its 2018 launch. The initiative protects over 550 million economically disadvantaged citizens through accessible medical care. Authorities have approved 984 million hospital admissions valued at more than 1.4 trillion rupees through June. POSHAN Abhiyaan addresses childhood malnutrition concerns among vulnerable populations. The Swachh Bharat sanitation campaign constructed millions of toilets nationwide, eliminating open defecation practices and preventing approximately 65,000 infant deaths annually through reduced waterborne illnesses.
