Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Navi Mumbai International Airport on Wednesday through a public-private partnership between Mumbai International Airport Ltd. and City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd. The facility received its aerodrome license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and it will handle 20 million passengers annually in its first phase. The airport spans 1,160 hectares with a 3,700-meter runway, and it features automated cargo terminals capable of processing 500,000 metric tonnes per year.
Airlines such as IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express plan to launch domestic routes from the new hub. The completed development will accommodate 90 million passengers, and it will process 3.2 million metric tonnes of cargo annually. The facility stands 14 kilometers from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, and it sits 22 kilometers from Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation in Taloja.
