Mohammad Saifuddin returns to the Bangladesh squad for the Sri Lanka T20I series

Mohammad Saifuddin finally broke his drought after thirteen long months away from international cricket. The pace bowler grabbed fifteen wickets during nine BPL 2024 matches and earned his spot back against Zimbabwe. He picked up eight wickets across four games but still missed out on World Cup selection. The setback started a rough patch that tested his mental strength and career focus. His journey back to the national team proved anything but smooth sailing.

Personal problems piled up as Saifuddin faced multiple challenges off the field. His wife expected their baby and he took leave from the A team to support her during this time. Visa troubles blocked his chance to play for Canada's Global T20 League tournament. Mental exhaustion forced him to step away from cricket for two full months. The all-rounder needed time to reset his mind and body before returning to competitive action.

Saifuddin came back for this year's BPL but struggled to find his best form with Rangpur Riders. He managed twelve wickets from twelve innings and scored 111 runs at a decent strike rate. The numbers looked ordinary compared to his previous performances that caught selectors' attention. His modest comeback still impressed the right people enough to earn another national team chance. The three-match series against Sri Lanka gives him a fresh opportunity to prove his worth.

The experienced player admitted earning opportunities feels easier than keeping his place permanently. He worked hard during training camps and focused on improving his existing skills rather than learning new tricks. Saifuddin wants to contribute more with the bat and become a genuine all-rounder for Bangladesh.
