Monster Hunter Wilds tanks PC fps if you skip DLC

Capcom seemingly programmed the game to run worse if players refuse to buy useless cosmetic skins. Reddit user De Tylmarande noticed that frame rates tanked specifically on accounts lacking paid expansions. This gamer tested two setups on identical hardware and saw the bare version struggling at twenty frames while the fully loaded profile hit eighty. The poster created a script that tricks the software into seeing purchased items, and performance instantly skyrocketed.

This discovery arrives nearly a year after Monster Hunter Wilds launched with terrible optimization issues. Modders like Praydog had to fix stutters resulting from anti-tamper tech early on while the developers slowly added Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 4 support. The studio even canceled a planned lecture at CEDEC in Japan because angry gamers kept harassing the staff over technical failures.

It feels baffling that a random fan found this major flaw while actual engineers missed it completely. Title Update 4 supposedly brought huge improvements yet seemingly ignored this check that punishes frugal customers. Digital Foundry reportedly reached out to the original poster to investigate why verifying downloadable content destroys system resources.
