MP mixes up Ruto, Raila, Uhuru in church blunder

Igembe Central MP Dan Kiili accidentally combined the names of former political leaders Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta before correcting himself on Sunday at St. Mary's AIPCA Church in Kathelwa, Meru. The legislator quickly recovered and asked the congregation to support two terms for President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki. Kiili defeated incumbent Cyprian Kiringo in the 2022 general election and has focused his first parliamentary term on agricultural reforms and expanding miraa markets for farmers in his constituency. President Ruto announced plans at the same church service to elevate Meru to city status and build a State Lodge in the region by December to facilitate government consultations for Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo, and surrounding areas.
