MPICO boosts K47 million for Malawi's 2025 Central Region Netball League

MPICO Group pumped more money into Malawi's netball scene with a fresh K47 million deal for 2025. The company announced the sponsorship boost during a Thursday meeting in Lilongwe. Officials said the new amount beats last year's K40 million funding. The extra cash shows MPICO wants to help young players develop their skills. Local sports leaders welcomed the increased financial support.

Major teams like Blue Eagles and MAFCO won't play this season because they joined a different league. These powerhouse clubs moved to the new FDH Bank National League competition. Their departure creates space for smaller teams to shine. Young athletes will have better chances to show their talent. The change could shake up the usual winners and losers.

Blue Eagles had won every championship since the league started eight years ago. The team earned K4 million last season before switching competitions. Other strong clubs also left for the national level tournament. Fresh faces will compete for the title when games begin on June 28. Nobody knows which team will claim the top prize.

MPICO has spent K231 million on the league since 2016 through their partnership deal. Company officials believe their investment helps create professional netball players. The Central Region Netball Committee works with MPICO to run the tournament. Both groups want to give girls more sporting opportunities. The league serves as a stepping stone for talented athletes.
