Msasa Interchange detours roll as Harare tackles gridlock

Harare commuters should prepare for chaos since workers finally began digging detour lanes at the Msasa Interchange to replace the roundabout connecting Mutare Road and Harare Drive. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development wants to fix the chronic jams that plague the eastern highways. This specific job represents the second step in a four-part overhaul.

Officials plan to tackle bottlenecks at Mabvuku Junction and two intersections along Liberation Legacy Way near Churchill Drive. The department indicated that current temporary diversions will eventually lead to better connectivity and safety for everyone stuck behind the wheel.

State administrators also put out a call for supervisors to manage upgrades on Liberation Legacy Way, previously called Borrowdale Road. They claim this policy aims to build infrastructure that meets actual economic demands rather than leaving motorists stranded on crumbling asphalt.
