Mukesh Sahani's 60 seat claim pressures Bihar alliance

Mukesh Sahani announced that his Vikassheel Insaan Party plans to field candidates across 60 constituencies during Bihar's 2025 Assembly elections. The party leader shared this declaration through social media platforms on Monday. Sahani stated that alliance partners would compete for all remaining seats. This announcement represents a significant expansion from the party's previous electoral ambitions. Political observers view this move as Sahani's attempt to establish greater influence within state politics.

The VIP chief gained recognition as an advocate for the Nishad community throughout Bihar. His party secured four legislative seats during the 2020 elections while participating in the National Democratic Alliance. Relations with the BJP-led coalition deteriorated afterward, leading Sahani to distance himself from that partnership. The Mallah community forms the core base of his political support. Recent appearances alongside Tejashwi Yadav suggest potential alignment with the Rashtriya Janata Dal and broader opposition coalition.
