Muluzi Slashes Pres Convoy Down to Just 7 Cars

UDF leader Atupele Muluzi plans to reduce the number of presidential vehicles to seven if he wins next year's election. He shared this during his Business First Plan announcement in Lilongwe. The plan aims to move Malawi away from needing aid toward more business growth and trade.

Muluzi believes bad policies and corruption hurt the economy badly. He wants leaders to set examples by spending less money. Beyond smaller motorcades, he promised not to buy new government cars for at least two years or until the economy improves.

His new plan focuses on making Malawi more open for companies, traders, and tourists. He made it clear that this plan stands apart from the official UDF manifesto. Voters will see that complete manifesto when his party releases it this June, ahead of the September 2025 election date.
