Municipal workers get first phase of Norton housing stands

Norton municipality witnessed the distribution of residential plots to 52 municipal employees affiliated with the Combined Municipal Workers Union of Zimbabwe, marking the initial phase of a broader housing initiative. Union chairperson Shadreck Chikore explained that recipients had completed 40 percent of payments to private developer Beyond Reality Cooperative and could commence construction immediately, with plots ranging from 200 to 2,000 square meters.

The organization, established in 2023 to advocate for municipal staff welfare across multiple local authorities, aims to allocate land to 300 members before year-end. Additional distributions are scheduled within two weeks as the union advances toward its second allocation phase.
