Muntaka Orders GIS to Get Tech or Hit the Road

Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak gave the new Ghana Immigration Service bosses their marching orders Thursday. He told the fresh council members they need to beef up the agency and make it work better for national safety. The ceremony happened at the capital city where officials gathered to watch the handover. Mohammed-Mubarak stressed how important these leaders will be for guiding policy and keeping everyone accountable. The minister wants them to help bring in money and support for the service.

Ghana Immigration Service created a master plan to get stronger and protect borders better. The strategy aims to make legal movement easier for people crossing into the country. Officials want to use more technology and smarter methods to catch problems before they happen. Mohammed-Mubarak said this roadmap will turn the service into a modern operation that can handle new threats. The plan covers everything from training workers to buying new equipment.

The minister pushed council members to team up with top immigration officials and their staff. He wants them to talk with important people both inside Ghana and around the world. Their job involves making sure laws about moving between countries work properly. Mohammed-Mubarak expects them to keep professional standards high and serve people well. The government promised to give them whatever money and backing they need.

Rev. Stephen Wengam spoke for the new council and thanked the president for trusting them. He appreciated the old council members who worked hard before stepping down. Wengam asked everyone to help make Ghana Immigration Service the best example for Africa and other places. The council has eleven people from different backgrounds and jobs. They will guide one of the most important security agencies in the country.
