Museveni and Janet Drop Bombshell Sorry to Buganda

President Yoweri Museveni said sorry to Uganda and the Buganda people at a prayer meeting. His wife, Janet, joined him at the Kololo event, where many religious groups gathered. They acknowledged that the ruling party had made mistakes over the past four decades. The couple asked God to help repair their relationship with the citizens. They wanted people to forgive them for the problems the government caused.

Museveni asked the Buganda region for special forgiveness, as they had helped him win power. The president took responsibility for the errors made by his party and officials. He remembered how Buganda supported his fight during the war years. People there backed him strongly when he first became leader. Their friendship lasted through many elections after 1986.

Everything changed during the 2021 vote when Buganda turned against Museveni. The National Unity Platform beat his party badly there. NUP won over one million more votes than the ruling party. Opposition candidates took 57 seats compared to just 20 for the government. Political experts say Museveni ignored Buganda's needs and the promises he made earlier.
