Mushosho's Edgars to crush koKhothama vendors

Edgars Stores launches Express Chain to support small and medium enterprises in Zimbabwe's clothing industry. The Victoria Falls Stock Exchange-listed retailer responds to competition from imported garments and second-hand clothing vendors. Express Chain provides affordable alternatives averaging four US dollars per item with minimum prices starting at one dollar. The initiative targets low-income consumers while creating opportunities for local manufacturers.

The company addresses market gaps left by informal sector traders who dominate through flea markets and street vendors. Edgars plans nationwide expansion of Express Chain stores to stimulate local economies and generate employment. The first location opened successfully in Bulawayo according to group chief executive Sevious Mushosho. Local SMEs will supply products meeting quality standards and size specifications for domestic consumers.
