Muswere leads youth, anti-drug abuse initiatives in Makoni

A legislator in Manicaland Province has launched sports competitions and economic assistance programs to steer young people away from narcotics while boosting rural prosperity. Information Minister Jenfan Muswere organized an athletic event on Saturday in Makoni West constituency that combined anti-drug messaging with financial support for local projects. Participants received livestock and technology resources as authorities distributed $13,500 across nine electoral subdivisions, with tournament champions earning $5,000 and second and third place finishers collecting $1,000 apiece.

Residents praised Muswere for addressing substance dependency through community engagement rather than enforcement alone. Beneficiaries reported success expanding agricultural ventures, with one group growing its swine operation to 52 animals through donated piglets and supplies. The gatherings allow constituents to discuss priorities directly with party officials while receiving updates from recent national conferences.

Muswere told attendees the assemblies advance broader development objectives beyond athletics and substance prevention. He referenced policy decisions from party meetings in Mutare that endorsed infrastructure expansion and extending presidential leadership through 2030 based on development achievements under the current administration.
