Zimbabwe's Tourism Ministry is working hard to prepare for the Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanai Tourism Expo coming to Mutare in September. A team just returned from China after finalizing plans for building new facilities. Tourism Minister Barbara Rwodzi said her ministry will speed up work to finish modern structures before the event starts. The government wants everything to be perfect for this major tourism event. President Mnangagwa's cabinet approved moving the expo to Manicaland Province.
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube backed the budget for the expo, supporting meetings and events tourism across all regions. The ministry aims to grab part of the global conferences industry worth about £510-550 billion. Rwodzi plans to build large meeting spaces that can hold 5,000 to 10,000 people in each province. She believes Manicaland should have one of Zimbabwe's biggest conference centers. The upcoming expo will bring visitors from more than 20 countries to the area.
The ministry also wants to develop factory tours and nature-based tourism in Manicaland. Rwodzi suggested creating diamond-cutting factories in the province to add value locally. She asked local people to welcome visitors warmly during the event.
