A suspect appeared in court on Sunday, charged with murdering businessman Joseph Mutangadura at his farm in August. Phillip Mutasa faced Harare regional magistrate Sandra Mupindu, who told him to seek bail from the High Court. Prosecutors said seven masked attackers broke into Mutangadura Hideout Farm on August 17 around 11:15 p.m., and tied up a security guard before forcing entry into the main house.
The assailants held the guard and Mutangadura's son, Ryan, at gunpoint in the dining room while others ransacked the bedroom where the businessman and his wife, Patience, were located. Ryan later found his father bleeding while his mother held him as the robbers searched the room. Emergency responders pronounced Mutangadura dead after his family rushed him to Eden Clinic in Ruwa. The victim operated several businesses in Ruwa.
