Seventh suspect arrested in brutal killing of Joseph Mutangadura

Authorities in Zimbabwe have taken a seventh person into custody as part of an investigation into the killing of businessman Joseph Mutangadura, age 67. Webster Nhau, 51, was apprehended near his residence in Ruwa on November 2. Commissioner Paul Nyathi, speaking for the national police force, announced the development and noted that investigators have detained seven individuals connected to the robbery and slaying that occurred on August 17 at Mutangadura Hideout Farm.

Two additional suspects arrested recently, Tariro Mutsamanye, 34, and Dexter Tinashe Mugaro, 31, already faced multiple charges tied to armed robberies. Both appeared before a regional magistrate and were held without bail, with officials advising them to seek release through the High Court. Four others had been arrested previously, and authorities have observed that several gang members appear to share family connections.

Security guard Bonus Kadiwa encountered the attackers around 11:15 p.m. after hearing dogs bark. Seven masked assailants forced their way into the residence using tools and firearms. One suspect shot Mutangadura in the chest during the raid, killing him. Investigators recovered the weapon used in the attack, which had also been used in another recent police officer killing in Sanyati.
