Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Wah Wah Maung met Ms Gwyn Lewis, the United Nations Interim Resident Coordinator and ad interim Humanitarian Coordinator for Myanmar, at the ministry's Office 1. They discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between government bodies and UN agencies to carry out UN projects in Myanmar more effectively.
The minister, who serves on the International Cooperation Working Committee under the National Natural Disaster Management Committee for earthquake recovery, proposed integrating the government’s priority earthquake response and recovery projects into the UN’s current work plans. She and Ms Lewis discussed this proposal and next steps for collaboration.
The meeting included the Director General of the Union Minister’s Office, the Deputy Director General of the Foreign Economic Relations Department, other senior ministry officials, and representatives from the UNRCO Myanmar office.
