Zimbabwe foreign minister meets Brazil envoy over BRICS application

Zimbabwe's Foreign Affairs Minister Amon Murwira held talks with Brazil's Ambassador Vilmar Rogeiro Coutinho about joining an important economic group. The meeting focused on Zimbabwe's request to become part of BRICS. Brazil leads the organization that brings together five major developing nations. The group wants to help member countries work together on trade and economic growth.

The two officials discussed ways their countries can share farming knowledge and technology. Brazil has advanced agricultural methods that could help Zimbabwe improve food production. Both nations want to strengthen their partnership through South-South cooperation programs. The ambassador praised Zimbabwe for joining the Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty recently.

BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa working as partners. The organization promotes economic ties among rapidly growing economies around the world. Member states share resources and coordinate policies to boost their global influence. Zimbabwe hopes to gain membership status within one of the available categories.

Minister Murwira described the discussions as productive and positive for future relations. He said Brazil offered helpful guidance about the application process for BRICS membership. The ambassador expressed confidence that both countries will deepen cooperation across multiple areas. Agricultural technology transfer remains a top priority for the developing partnership.

Zimbabwe follows a foreign policy approach of building friendships with all nations. The country seeks mutually beneficial relationships through active diplomacy and multilateral engagement. Officials believe BRICS membership would advance these goals significantly.
