Namadingo car fix plan stuck in red tape

Musician Patience Namadingo wants to fix broken ambulances at Mangochi District Hospital, but local officials say he must first follow the proper channels.

Namadingo announced his plans on Facebook Sunday, pledging to repair all damaged ambulances because "people of Mangochi seriously need them running." He traveled to the district but couldn't make immediate progress during his Monday meeting with authorities.

District Commissioner Davie Chigwenembe explained that Mangochi has nine damaged vehicles. Five are already being fixed, leaving four that Namadingo might help with. The musician must submit a formal proposal before any work can begin, as council rules require specific procedures for such donations.

The situation has created debate among locals. Some supporters believe Namadingo could bring attention to healthcare challenges in the area. Critics suggest he should abandon the project, warning about political complications that might arise from his good intentions.

The final decision rests with council officials, who must determine if Namadingo's offer aligns with their regulations for accepting assistance from private citizens or organizations.
