Namibia cheers new Gabon president Brice Nguema

Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah congratulated Brice Nguema on his election victory as Gabon's new leader. Nguema secured over 90% of the votes in Saturday's presidential election. He previously led a military takeover that ended almost six decades of Bongo family rule last August.

Nandi-Ndaitwah called the election a fresh beginning full of hope for Gabonese citizens. She expressed eagerness for both nations to work together more closely, especially regarding business connections. The Namibian president wished Nguema good health as he guides his country forward.

This marks the first presidential vote since Nguema overthrew the long-ruling Bongo dynasty through military action. Under the new leadership, Namibia hopes to build stronger economic ties with Gabon. The election represents a major shift after decades of control by a single family.
