Nandom lures 100 girls to ICT training with food

One hundred elementary school girls from Nandom Municipality began intensive computer skills training this week. Anthony Ziniel, the municipal chief executive, started the program Monday at St. Ann's Vocational Institution. Students receive instruction in groups of twenty with two instructors guiding each class. The district provides three daily meals during the seven-day course.

Education Director Pascaline Ninfaakang praised the program as essential preparation for digital careers. Participants will complete written assessments Saturday before returning to their home schools. The initiative connects to Ghana's national Girls-in-ICT effort led by the Communications Ministry. Partners include the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications and the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT to reduce technology gender gaps.
