Ncube Takes CCC Boss Tshabangu to Court

Zimbabwe's CCC party is experiencing a power struggle. Two leaders are fighting over who should control the party's direction in Parliament.

Prof. Welshman Ncube says he is the acting CCC president. He is upset that Mr. Sengezo Tshabangu fired some Parliament members from their leadership roles. Prof. Ncube thinks Mr. Tshabangu did not have the right to do this.

Prof. Ncube went to court. He wants the judge to stop Mr. Tshabangu's changes. Prof. Ncube says only the CCC party can decide these things, not Mr. Tshabangu acting alone.

But Mr. Tshabangu disagrees. He says Prof. Ncube is not really the CCC acting president anymore. He claims Prof. Ncube's term ended. This would mean Prof. Ncube cannot speak for the party in court.

The CCC has had problems since its former leader, Mr. Nelson Chamisa, quit in January. Different groups are now fighting for control. The court will hear both sides on Monday to decide whether Mr. Tshabangu's changes in Parliament will stay or not.
