Nees raves about Musona and team spirit

Coach Nees thinks very highly of Knowledge Musona. He called the former Zimbabwe captain a person who cares more about the team than himself. Musona decided to leave the Warriors back in May 2022 after playing for his country for more than ten years. The Saudi Arabia soccer star will join the national team again since Nees added him to the group that faces Benin and Nigeria in the upcoming 2026 World Cup games.

Nees explained to reporters that Musona could have come back last November during the African Cup games. The coach even arranged his travel papers. Musona didn't rush to return after the team beat Namibia twice. He told coaches he would help if players got hurt or couldn't play. Nees said this shows what kind of person Musona really is—someone who puts others first.

The coach wants all players to think like Musona does. He believes everyone needs to care about the country more than themselves. Nees wants to build this mindset throughout the entire team. He said players must all push toward the same goals together. The German coach made it clear that just because Musona returns doesn't mean leadership roles will change right away.

Nees discussed who would lead the team on the field. He mentioned that Musona doesn't expect to become captain just because he came back. The coach stated that Marvelous Nakamba would stay as the main captain. Marshall Munetsi will take over when Nakamba can't play. Nees praised how Musona accepted this arrangement without any problems, showing his good character once again.
