New Major General Shakes Up Zimbabwe Army

President Emmerson Mnangagwa promoted Brigadier General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi to Major General on Friday. The ceremony took place at Zimbabwe Defence Forces headquarters in Harare. Commander General Philip Valerio Sibanda gave the new Major General his badges of rank. Sibanda told Tapfumaneyi to set a good example for other officers. He welcomed the promoted officer back to the defense forces.

Major General Tapfumaneyi thanked President Mnangagwa for the honor during his speech. He promised to support the president's vision and help keep Zimbabwe safe. The newly promoted officer said he would work hard to defend the country. He expressed gratitude to defense force leaders and members for their trust. Tapfumaneyi committed to backing the commander's defense plans.

The Major General has worked in several important government jobs before this promotion. He served as Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs. Tapfumaneyi also worked as Deputy Director General of the Central Intelligence Organisation. His experience spans different areas of government service. The promotion recognizes his years of dedicated work.
