Niger rolls out digital library at rural primary school

Niger's education minister just showed up at a rural primary school for a flag ceremony. Dr. Elisabeth Sherif visited Karey Gorou Primary School in Bitinkodji, located in the Tillabery Region's Kollo Department. She was joined by the Tillabery Governorate's Secretary General and other ministry officials. Students greeted them by singing the national anthem.

The main event was launching a new digital library at the school. This library is fully equipped with modern digital learning tools for both students and teachers. It is part of a larger government plan to install eighty-nine similar digital libraries across eight regions. The goal is to boost academic results and help teachers while getting students comfortable with technology.

Minister Sherif toured the school grounds and spoke directly with teachers and pupils. She also visited a school garden, highlighting the importance of a positive learning environment. This push for digital tools in education follows directives from President Abdourhamane Tiani. The strategy focuses on modernizing the national education system as a key development pillar.
