Nigeria Tech Star Tijani Rules ITU Council

Nigeria's Communications Minister Dr Bosun Tijani won the vice chairman position at the International Telecommunications Union Council. The election happened in Geneva during the ITU Conference. The ITU started in 1865 as the oldest United Nations agency for information and communication technologies. The organization works to connect the world through digital solutions and communication networks.

Dr Tijani accepted his new role and said Nigeria will support the ITU's mission. He wants to focus on building strong digital infrastructure and connecting underserved communities. The minister thanked ITU Secretary General Doreen Bogdan-Martin and member countries for trusting him. He said the world faces rapid technological changes that create structural shifts in societies.

The minister praised digital technology's power to transform communities and make people more inclusive. He congratulated ITU Chair Cristiana Flutur from Romania and promised to work with her. Dr Tijani wants the ITU to become a leader in innovation and collaboration for future generations. The ITU Conference continues in Geneva with delegates from around the world attending sessions.
