Nigeria's Flying Eagles to Compete in Inaugural WAFU B U-20 Cup of Nations

Nigeria's Flying Eagles team will compete in the first WAFU B U-20 Cup of Nations tournament. Ghana hosts the competition from July 10 through July 24 in Accra. The event was moved from its original June dates in Prampram to create better playing conditions.

The Flying Eagles plan to use this tournament as practice for the FIFA U-20 World Cup taking place in Chile. Coach Aliyu Zubairu's squad last played at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt during March. They earned third place at that competition.

Six other West African nations will join Nigeria in the tournament. Cote d'Ivoire, Niger, Burkina Faso, Togo and Benin complete the field for this inaugural event. All matches will take place in Ghana's capital city.
