Nine testify against Sheikh Hasina, family in Purbachal graft case

Nine witnesses appeared in the Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 on Tuesday to testify against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and family members regarding corruption allegations linked to the Purbachal New Town Project. Judge Md Abdullah Al Mamun recorded statements from government workers and officials about irregularities at Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha. The Anti-Corruption Commission brought six cases in January, accusing the Hasina family and project administrators of illegal land distribution. Prosecutors filed charges in March and secured arrest warrants in July, though all defendants remain at large with the next court session set for Oct. 15.
