Nintendo Switch 2 owners must wait until October 3 for Borderlands 4

Gearbox Software will launch Borderlands 4 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms on September 12, 2025. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition faces a brief postponement until October 3, 2025. Company president Randy Pitchford revealed this timeline adjustment through a social media video post. He emphasized the relatively short delay compared to initial development concerns. The announcement addressed earlier promises about delivering the game within 2025.

Switch 2 players must wait approximately three weeks after other platforms receive access to the looter shooter. Pitchford presented the delay date with theatrical enthusiasm during his announcement. The extended development period allows Gearbox additional time for platform optimization. Performance comparisons between console versions will prove particularly interesting upon release. Previous pricing disputes surrounding the franchise have created sensitivity around potential cost differences between platform editions.
