Borderlands 4 set for September 12 launch with Switch 2 release on October 3

Gearbox and 2K announced that Borderlands 4 achieved gold master status ahead of its September 12 release date. The game will be available simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S platforms. Publishers rarely delay titles after reaching gold status, though Cyberpunk 2077 provided a notable exception five years ago. Fans can expect to access the fourth series installment within approximately one month. This milestone typically guarantees the scheduled launch window.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners must wait until October 3 for their version of Borderlands 4. The handheld system received a separate release date earlier this week due to platform differences. Developers may utilize unique Nintendo Switch 2 features such as NVIDIA DLSS technology and mouse control compatibility. These enhancements could significantly benefit the gameplay experience on Nintendo's next-generation hardware. The three-week delay allows proper optimization for the portable console.
