The North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has launched its annual planting season, targeting 6,000 hectares for cultivation under its Crop Massification Programme. MEC Madoda Sambatha announced the initiative in the Tswaing Local Municipality, explaining that it provides seeds, fertilizer, and technical expertise to farmers.
The program aims to reactivate underutilized arable land to enhance food security and stimulate rural economies. It will be implemented across the province’s four districts, with a significant portion of the land dedicated to staple grains. The department emphasized that this support for both emerging and established farmers is intended to boost agricultural output and create employment opportunities.
