NPP Corruption Trials Implicate Bawumia Loyalists

Solomon Owusu from the Movement for Change has made serious accusations against former NPP officials. The political figure claims most ex-government workers facing corruption charges were loyal to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He says about 90 percent of people accused of stealing public money supported the former Vice President. Owusu points to the national service ghost names scandal as proof of his claims. He names Gifty Oware and Mustapha Ussif as examples of Bawumia supporters caught up in corruption cases.

The Movement for Change member spoke on TV3's New Day program on Wednesday. He said these officials used huge amounts of state money during the 2023 NPP leadership contest. Owusu claims they spent GH₵250 million from the national service scandal to help Bawumia win the party race. He says they acted like they had money machines in their houses during that time. The politician believes they used stolen funds to buy support for their candidate.

Owusu made these statements about the upcoming NPP flagbearer election set for January 31, 2026. He thinks none of the expected candidates can lead Ghana properly. The list of potential candidates covers Dr. Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, and Bryan Acheampong. Owusu predicts Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen will become president in 2028. He calls Kyerematen the candidate Ghanaians have been waiting for all along.
