NSG team inspects Nowgam blast site

National Security Guard forensic specialists examined the Nowgam police station blast site in Jammu and Kashmir, where nine people died and 31 sustained injuries from an accidental explosion. The victims included a police inspector, revenue department officials, forensic team members and crime branch photographers who were present when officers sampled explosive materials seized from the Faridabad terror module investigation.

The NSG central forensic squad collected evidence and coordinated with local investigators after the incident killed government personnel conducting their examination. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered an inquiry while Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and former regional leaders expressed condolences. Authorities announced financial compensation of Rs 10 lakh for bereaved families and Rs 1 lakh for injured individuals. Senior officials attended a wreath-laying ceremony and visited affected families to offer support.
