The National Unity Platform party scored a big win in Kawempe North yesterday. Their candidate, Elias Nalukoola Luyimbaazi, beat everyone else with 17,764 votes. All other candidates received much fewer votes in comparison. Hanifah Karadi Mulerwa ran as an Independent and earned 381 votes. Engena Stanley, another Independent, received just 22 votes. The Democratic Party's Henry Kasacca Mubiru collected 100 votes, and Muhammad Luswa Luwemba gained 240 votes. FDC party member Sadat Mukiibi earned 239 votes, while Ismail Musiitwa from the People's Progressive Party ended up with 39 votes. Independent runner Muhamood Mutazindwa gathered 186 votes, and Moses Nsereko, also Independent, finished with 32 votes.
