NVIDIA RTX 5060 Sneaky Launch Has Gamers Worried

NVIDIA showed off its new GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB card, which will be available soon for $299, along with the just-released RTX 5060 Ti models with 16 GB and 8 GB options. Partner companies quickly announced their custom versions of these cards. Many people noticed NVIDIA's unusual focus on the cheapest model in its mid-April announcements.

Industry watchers at VideoCardz believe the RTX 5060 cards might not see huge demand on release day. NVIDIA plans to launch these cards at retail stores on the same day they let reviewers publish their tests. Reports suggest May 19 will be the release date for these new graphics cards.

This timing could be a strategic move. VideoCardz explained that customers might buy the cards before seeing independent performance reviews. Gamers would need to trust NVIDIA's official numbers if they want to purchase at the suggested retail price. NVIDIA did share some performance stats in April, showing the RTX 5060 delivers 614 AI TOPs and 58 TFLOPS compared to the Ti version's 750 AI TOPs and 72 TFLOPS.

Sources say AMD plans to counter with its Radeon RX 9060 XT around the same time. Both companies appear ready to make these announcements right before Computex 2025 starts on May 20.
