Nvidia to supply full AI rack systems

NVIDIA is shifting its strategy for AI server racks by moving to supply complete, pre-validated systems directly to its partners. This change, discussed during a Wistron earnings call, represents a departure from its traditional model of providing only core components like GPUs. The new approach involves NVIDIA delivering unified blueprints for entire systems to manufacturers such as Foxconn and Quanta.

This standardized system design, building upon its existing MGX architecture, is intended to drastically accelerate deployment. The company estimates it can reduce the timeline from nearly a year to approximately 90 days. By defining most of the rack architecture in advance, NVIDIA ensures faster market entry for new technologies like its upcoming Rubin platforms.

The transition allows NVIDIA to capture a larger portion of the market and secure higher margins from full-system sales. Partners like Wistron have indicated this business model does not negatively impact their manufacturing role and could be beneficial. This strategic move positions NVIDIA to control a more significant part of the AI infrastructure supply chain.
