Nyali’s Boma Yangu digs hit 28 percent, Maweni locals cash in

The Mombasa County government reports steady advancement on the Nyali VOK housing development, which has achieved twenty-eight percent construction progress. Officials confirm that 1,932 residential units will become available through the Boma Yangu sales platform within this 23-acre site in Maweni Sub-Location. The February 2025 launch under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda connects housing delivery with employment generation and community economic growth.

Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga emphasizes the project's broader impact beyond residential provision. The development creates wealth-building opportunities while addressing accommodation needs across multiple income brackets. Construction activities have generated more than 650 direct employment positions and an additional 100 indirect service opportunities.

Local participation remains central to project implementation as Mombasa residents benefit from various contractor roles. The Kisauni Jua Kali Artisans Association supplies essential building components like steel doors and window frames through dedicated procurement arrangements. Future phases will establish healthcare facilities, educational institutions, recreational areas, and community gathering spaces.
