Onyango joins Uganda Cranes goalkeepers for CHAN preparation

Denis Onyango agreed to teach Uganda Cranes goalkeepers before the CHAN tournament starts. The former national team captain will share his skills during his vacation back home. Onyango currently plays for Mamelodi Sundowns down south. He stepped onto the Luzira prison training ground on July 7th at 10 in the morning. Media reporters watched the special session unfold.

The experienced keeper will spend 26 days working with the national team goalkeepers. His knowledge comes from years of playing at top clubs like Supersport United. Onyango led Uganda as captain from April 2017 until April 2021. He earned the PSL Keeper of the Season award during his career. The goalkeeper also won African Player of the Year honors.

Fred Muhumuza and Morley Byekwaso coach the current Uganda Cranes squad. They welcome Onyango's help as they prepare for the big continental competition. The veteran goalkeeper brings valuable experience to the training camp. His presence will boost the confidence of younger keepers on the team. Uganda hopes his guidance will improve their chances at CHAN.
