Osimhen leads Super Eagles, vows to trample Afcon rivals

Osimhen says Nigeria is ready to stomp anyone for the AFCON trophy. Following a perfect group stage capped by a 3-1 win over Uganda, striker Victor Osimhen declared the Super Eagles a favorite to win their first Africa Cup of Nations in thirteen years. He stated the team, which will face Mozambique next, possesses the quality to damage any opponent while also expressing respect for every remaining squad. The Galatasaray forward, wearing the captain's armband for the first time in a rotated lineup, emphasized the team's focused, game-by-game mentality despite the growing hype.

He acknowledged the immense meaning a title would hold for Nigeria after their loss in the prior final. His leadership approach against Uganda was intentionally composed, partly due to carrying a yellow card, as he aimed to motivate newer players like goal-scorer Paul Onuachu and standout midfielder Raphael Onyedika. Osimhen praised Onyedika's two-goal performance specifically, calling him one of the team's best. He finished with a call for continued fan support through the tougher knockout rounds, expressing belief that the squad's spirit can carry them through.
