Otti claims Kanu not left to rot in Umuahia

Abia State Governor Alex Otti defended South East leaders against claims they have forgotten detained Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu. The governor spoke to reporters Thursday evening at the state capital. He emphasized that regional governors continue working with federal authorities to free the IPOB leader. Otti explained that certain negotiations must stay confidential to protect ongoing discussions.

The governor leads these release efforts with full backing from fellow South East state leaders. He stressed that public disclosure of some talks could harm progress toward Kanu's freedom. Igbo community elders had protested Wednesday at the Government House over the detention. The demonstrators demanded that Otti and other governors pressure President Bola Tinubu for Kanu's release.
