Governor Alex Otti told people that criminals once controlled parts of Isuikwuato and Umunnochi areas before he took office. Local residents ran away from their homes because of these dangerous groups. City dwellers feared returning to visit their families back home. The governor spoke at Umuahia Township Stadium during his second anniversary celebration on Thursday. He shared details about how his government fought back against the criminal networks.
Otti created Operation Crush security forces that kicked out the bandits from both local government areas. The combined team freed the people and gave them back their lands. Nigerian Army officers worked together with police and other security groups to make Abia State safe again. The governor promised to keep supporting these security teams with equipment and supplies. He praised their hard work in protecting the state from future attacks.
The administration paid more than N40 billion to workers for unpaid salaries and pensions. Otti thanked residents for supporting his government during tough times. Abia State transformed from one of Nigeria's dirtiest places into a clean area. He asked people to keep up the new habits of staying clean and organized. Several completed projects will open for public use starting in June 2025.
