Four family members died Sunday evening when two cars crashed on Karoi-Binga Road. A Ford Ranger carrying seven people hit a Honda Fit packed with 12 passengers. The accident happened at 6:30 pm near the 25-kilometer mark. All victims belonged to the Matonde family from Dixie Farm in Magunje. The dead were Juliet Matonde aged 32, her daughters Eunice aged 13 and Debra aged 8, and three-year-old Letwin Matonde.
Police Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the crash details. Fifteen other people suffered serious injuries and went to Karoi District Hospital. The Honda Fit had far more passengers than safety rules allow. These small cars often carry excess passengers as illegal taxis on Zimbabwe roads. Officials took the bodies to the hospital morgue for examination.
