A tragic day shook Bulawayo residents after two separate crashes hurt young children. The first accident happened early morning when a dad accidentally killed his little girl at their home. The 55-year-old man was driving his pickup truck around 8:43 AM. His two-year-old daughter got hit and died right away from serious head wounds. Police said the father should have looked around better before moving his vehicle.
The second crash took place during the afternoon near a local meat processing plant. A six-year-old girl ran straight into traffic and froze right there. The driver tried to miss her but crashed into another truck coming the other way. The little girl fell down and hurt her forehead but doctors say she will be okay. She got treated at the main hospital and her condition looks good.
Police officers want drivers and parents to be more careful around kids. They tell drivers to always check under and around their cars before moving them. Parents need to watch their children better and never let them cross streets alone. Both accidents happened on the same day in the same city. The police spokesperson said many crashes could be stopped with more attention to safety.
