Overwatch 2 Season 17 Brings Wild Map Vote Craze

Blizzard starts Overwatch 2 Season 17 next Tuesday with major Stadium mode updates. The developer expands the popular mode with three heroes and two new maps. Zenyatta, Sigma and Junkrat join Stadium battles on Esperança and Samoa locations. Stadium Forge lets players create custom team setups and share strategies. The system provides early and late game examples for every character.

The season brings the first Stadium rank reset for all players. Map voting arrives for Quick Play and Competitive matches after role selection. Three random map choices appear with voting odds determined through roulette selection. Team chat and individual votes stay hidden to reduce player pressure. Leaver penalties start when voting begins.

Three new battlegrounds launch with different gameplay styles. Aatlis showcases Moroccan culture as a Flashpoint map with gardens and resort areas. Esperança returns as a round-based Stadium map with elevation changes. Samoa adds volcanic control points with lava and vertical combat spaces.

Blizzard releases two Mythic skins simultaneously for the first time. D.Va receives the Horang Hero skin and Reaper gets the Steel Death weapon design. Both cosmetics evolve through four upgrade tiers. Hacks and Hijinks arrives as a limited 6v6 mode with rotating match modifiers. The special event runs on Control maps from July 15 through 28.
