Pabitra Margherita deepens India, Lesotho ties in rare Maseru diplomatic visit

Minister Pabitra Margherita conducted diplomatic meetings with Lesotho officials during his African tour. The External Affairs representative engaged Foreign Minister Lejone Mpotjoana about strengthening bilateral partnerships between both nations. Principal Secretary Thabang Lekhela welcomed the Indian official upon arrival in Maseru. Margherita also connected with local Indian community members who contribute to cultural exchanges. The minister traveled from Eswatini and plans to continue his journey to South Africa.

Scheduled appointments await with King Letsie III and Prime Minister Samuel Matekane during the diplomatic mission. Additional bilateral discussions will occur with ministers overseeing technology, education, and employment sectors. This represents the first such ministerial engagement between the countries since 2015 when Dr. Mahesh Sharma previously visited. The tour supports India's expanded African diplomatic strategy and preparation for G20 Development Ministerial Meetings. Margherita's visit demonstrates renewed commitment to strengthening ties across the African continent.
